An Evening Workshop with Rajasthani Potters, Manohar Lal and Aasha Ram facilitated by Sandra Bowkett

Workshop 1    Monday 15 April 2019 – 6pm to 8.30pm

Workshop 2    Tuesday 16 April 2019 – 6pm to 8.30pm

Each workshop can accommodate a minimum of 6 and a maximum 12 people and is suitable for any skill level.

Demonstrations

 

  • Throwing on a traditional manual wheel.
  • The staged making of large water pots (matka) and cooking vessels.
  • Beating out to create the forms.

There will be some forms pre-made to enable the complete process to be viewed, and there will be the possibility of participants having a go to get a feel for the process but in the time available not the complete process.

Participate

Participants will have the opportunity to use a traditional wheel paired with one of the potters, rhythmic throwing small items off the hump, taking turns cutting off and then throwing, as appropriate to skill level.  Participants will also be able to take these items with them.
