Mark Knight Glaze workshop

In this half day workshop, Mark will demonstrate how best to glaze your pots.

He will revisit glaze recipes and how to mix a glaze to achieve consistent results.

Topics to be covered will include application techniques, glaze on glaze, wax resist and brush work.

Firing and record keeping will also be discussed.

Mark will also attempt to answer your questions. Feel free to bring examples of any problem glazes you have.

 

When: 17th September; 12:00 – 4:00ish

Where: Mark Knight’s studio, 13 Loatta Rd, Lindisfarne (unless numbers are over 10, in which case it may need to shift to the TCA studio)

Cost: $60:00 for members; $80 for non-members

MOULD MAKING DEMONSTRATION WITH SOMCHAI CHAROEN

Somchai Charoen

Somchai Charoen is a ceramic artist based in Sydney who has exhibited both nationally and internationally. Trained in industrial ceramic design, he was a former lecturer at Silpakorn University, Thailand (1994-2002). Since migrating to Australia, he has worked commercially as a mould and model maker as well as established his ceramic home ware label Eat Clay. Somchai is the co-founder of Belmore ITCH, a creative residency for non-ceramic artists to experiment, explore and interpret the medium.

Morning Session from 10.00-12.00am.
Somchai Charoen will be conducting experiments in mould-making using waste materials such as sawdust and newspaper etc. This includes making clay prototypes and plaster prototypes.

Afternoon Session from 1.00-2.30 pm.
Somchai will showcase the idea of mould-making using plaster sheets followed by tips and techniques about mould-making.
