Two Day Weekend Workshop in September. 12th and 13th

Impressed and Incised.

Irish Potters Coll Minogue and Robert Sanderson are the editors of the Log Book, the international wood firing magazine. These two experienced potters are in Australia to do a number of workshops, as well as having attended the recent Australian Ceramics Triennale,”Stepping Up” in Canberra.

This workshop will be held at the TCA studio in Glenorchy from 10 am – 3 pm on Saturday the 12th of September and Sunday the 13th of September.

Please bring a plate of lunch to share on both days.

A short introduction by Coll – including PowerPoint images (15 minutes)

A  PowerPoint Presentation on historical and contemporary Impressed and Incised Ceramics based on Coll’s book Impressed and Incised Ceramics  (the hyperlink goes to Amazon books)

Discussion of project and brief introduction of participants (30 minutes)

First Hands On session – Exploring surface using found natural and manmade objects to impress / incise on experimental slabs, leading to the creation of a set of four small dishes suitable for use as starter/ entrée / appetiser dishes, by each participant (2 hours approx.).

Second Hands On session – The creation of an individual piece by each participant inspired by historical or contemporary work as seen in the earlier presentation, or by an impressing or incising technique as developed in the first hands on session. The work produced can be either a vessel or sculptural form. Depending on the size – a series of pieces could be created.


Members $150 for the full two day workshop or $100 for a single day.
Non Members $200  for the two day workshop or $150 for a single day.

Preference will be given to participants that can attend both days. Numbers are limited, with preference been given to members.


Please bring your own clay and tools along with any suitable objects for mark making. eg: bits of rope, shells, stamps, sticks, lace, doilies, etc.
